I am committed to supporting and highlighting the voices of students, particularly those from marginalized communities. At Niagara University, I act as the faculty advisor of the Asian Student Union and The Aquila (Niagara University's literary and arts journal). I am a member of committees that allow me to ensure students experience an equitable (Hearing Board Member for the Office for Equity and Inclusion), diverse (Women’s Studies Committee), and accessible (Accessibility and Disability Matters Committee) campus and curriculum. I also currently advise students in the Pre-Health Professions Program (Pre-Health Committee). Additionally, as a member of the Artificial Intelligence Task Force, I worked to implement artificial intelligence in ways that ensure fairness for all students.
I work with other faculty at Niagara University to share my passion for social justice. I serve as a Humanities Faculty Advisor for the Vincentian Social Justice Minor: I run workshops for faculty on how to make their classrooms more accessible and their course content more diverse in terms of disability and race.
I am also engaged in my community, where I am particularly involved with people who have disabilities. I am a member of the advisory committee for “Communities of Care,” a Mellon Foundation-funded interdisciplinary research project (organized by the Gender Institute and the Center for Disability Studies at the University at Buffalo) that seeks to better understand and address issues faced by caregivers and those with disabilities.
